Lethargic, gaining weight, and generally miserable, this was how I felt when I cut out a magazine article on GetActive. After moving the article around my desk, and looking at it on the fridge I finally took the plunge and made an appointment. The initial meeting was a very relaxed discussion about the gym and why I wanted to join GetActive, simple lose weight and gain fitness.

With access to GetActive's state of the art equipment, and a professional trainer who keeps things fun and interesting it wasn't long before I was gaining fitness. Unfortunately however, losing weight wasn't to be so simple and after a few weeks my trainer recommended I meet the team nutritionist. Immediately I started eating breakfast and tried different food combinations and it wasn't long before I started to see results.

The GetActive team provide personalised holistic approach to nutrition, exercise, mental focusing in a fun, encouraging way, which doesn't stop as you walk out the gym door. Over the Festive season the team designed a program for while I was overseas and then followed it up with friendly text messages.

Since joining GetActive I may have not lost the desired 15 kgs but I have lost inches, dropped a dress size, lowered my blood pressure, gained loads of energy, and most importantly become a much happier person. All this thanks to the professional guidance of the Get Active team.

I wanted to turn a new leaf and begin living a new lifestyle altogether. After 32 years of being overweight and chubby, I decided enough was enough. I’ve always imagined what I would look like if I were slim but that’s all – imagined. So I figured why not put myself to the challenge? And I wanted to achieve all this before the beginning of the New Year. In short, I wanted to start 2009 with a BANG!

In July 2008, I enrolled into a private gym and hired a personal trainer. I decided that if I wanted to lose the weight, I better do it safely and with proper supervision. Once I joined GetActive , my trainer took charge of my training and scheduled a proper workout program for me and also had to look after what I was eating - more meals and less junk food and sugar intake... I only had to tell her the goals I wanted to achieve and my target weight – a toned, slim body and 65 kg respectively – and we got to work immediately!

Two months into the program I didn’t actually see the difference until the day my trainer put me on the scales and measured me up. It was a very ecstatic feeling – I felt elated, excited and extremely happy to know that I’d actually achieved what I’d only dreamt of until now. I can say there was a huge increase in the level of my self-confidence and I felt very pleased with myself. Another major improvement was my posture – I used to have a slight hunch, especially when I sat down. Now I walk straight and tall and I hunch a lot less!

At this point I’ve made new goals. Instead of losing so much weight, I’m now working to regain some weight as muscle mass! At the end of June, I was a hefty 82 kg on a 5’ 8” frame. At the moment, I’m 67 kg.

Having had a heart bypass surgery and chronic back injury (prolapsed disk and degeneration of spinal disk) affects my weak knees and causes me to lose my balance. With these challenges I knew I had to exercise to lose some weight to improve my condition. I was afraid of doing the wrong exercises and most of all did not have the motivation. I enrolled in gym and engaged a personal trainer, but it did not work. One day, a good friend told me her daughter was a Personal Trainer and she could train me at home. It has been more than a year now that I have been training at home, three times a week with a GetActive Trainer. I’ve lost more than an inch off my waist and the weight lose has alleviated some stress from my knees. On top of that I exercise three times a week on my own.
